1) Guidelines for creators
- Use trustworthy destinations: Link to reputable websites you control or trust. Avoid URL shorteners stacked on top of other shorteners.
- Be transparent: If your QR leads to a login/payment page, clearly state that near the code (e.g., “Scan to pay on yourdomain.com”).
- Keep targets up to date: For dynamic QRs, review and update targets regularly to prevent broken or hijacked links.
- Protect your account: Use strong passwords and enable all available security features. Do not share your credentials.
- Respect privacy: If you collect personal data via a QR-linked form/site, provide a privacy notice and comply with applicable data protection laws.
2) Prohibited content & uses
The following are strictly prohibited and may result in suspension or termination:
- Illegal content or activity, including fraud, theft, phishing, scams, malware distribution, or facilitating criminal acts.
- Links that impersonate banks, payment providers, government agencies, or well-known brands without authorization.
- Sexual exploitation, child sexual abuse material, hate or incitement of violence, or any content violating applicable law.
- Harassment, doxxing, or invasion of privacy.
- Generating QRs designed to deceive users into unsafe downloads or credential theft.
Note: We may disable short links, remove content, and notify appropriate authorities where required by law.
3) Safety tips for people scanning QR codes
- Preview URLs: On most phones, you can long-press or preview the link before opening. Look for HTTPS and a domain you recognize.
- Be cautious with payments: Verify the payee and the website domain. Do not enter credentials or OTPs on suspicious pages.
- Keep devices updated: Install OS/browser security updates and use mobile security tools where appropriate.
- When in doubt: Navigate to the official site manually instead of following the QR link.
4) Notes on dynamic QR & short links
Dynamic QR images encode a short link hosted by us. When creators update the target URL, previously printed/downloaded QR images continue to work.
- We do not pre-screen or continuously monitor all destinations.
- Creators are responsible for ensuring that their targets remain safe, accurate, and lawful.
- We may disable or suspend short links that violate our Terms or these Guidelines.
5) Report abuse or security issues
If you encounter a suspicious or harmful QR code generated via MakeQRCode.ai, please email:
abuse@makeqrcode.ai with:
- The short link (or the code shown after scanning)
- Screenshots and a brief description of the issue
- Date/time and your location (optional, helpful for audits)
We’ll review and take appropriate action. If immediate danger or a crime is involved, contact your local authorities first.
6) Law enforcement cooperation
We cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement. We may preserve and disclose limited logs or account data where required by applicable law and our policies.
7) Children’s safety
Our services are not directed to children under 13 (or the relevant age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has created an account or been exposed to harmful content through a QR code, contact us immediately at
